This week we continued to plan for our virtual Rainbow Sports Day.
This week we have been learning about ourselves and how we stay healthy. We have also been helping the nursery by sharing information about PE in Primary 1.
This week we learned all about the sense of taste.
We had so much for learning about the sense of taste and how we use it. We have read and listened to some new books and learned interesting facts about the tongue and mouth. We took part in an exciting taste test with our families and had to recognise the sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes. We also created a chart to display our results.
We have learned to use the skill to reflect on different ways to keep in touch with friends, family and class mates. Google classroom and video meets help us to stay in touch.
LI: I can reflect on how to keep in touch with friends and family.
Big Question: How are we all different? Why are we not the same?
We created bar graphs to present a survey about our differences and uniqueness: Eye colour, hair colour...
LI: We can create a bar graph online with our survey results.
LI: I can explore different technologies that support communication
LI: I can discuss the pro’s and con’s of technology for communicating
We have been looking at technology and how this supports communication
We have learnt there are so many different ways to communicate
We have considered the pro’s and con’s of technology
We have designed our own technology of the future!
LI: I can reflect on how I keep in touch with people
We planned at the start of the week to get us thinking about how we have communicated over the past few months. We added to these plans as the week went on, to help us with our reflection activity on Friday.
We shared our reflections on Friday. While we have been off we have used some of these technologies to help us communicate; Zoom, Facetime, phone calls, Google Meets, text messages and Skype!
LI: I can write a persuasive piece in defence of the NHS, NHS staff and key workers.

The children produced some fabulous arguments. They were so passionate about defending the NHS and NHS staff and I was very proud of their writing. Please read some of their work below.

Big Question:
What role does the NHS play in keeping our country healthy?
Task:
The NHS employs around 1.5 million people in the UK. When we mention the NHS, we tend to think first about doctors and nurses, particularly at times like these. However, like any huge organisation or company, there are many other important cogs that make the machine work.
Research the NHS and try to identify as many different jobs/careers as you can.
