This week’s assembly saw the launch of our Interdisciplinary Learning context, “What skills do you need to thrive in difficult times?”, as part of Our Healthy World cross curricular context.
Many of our school partners shared video clips of what they have been doing in an effort to stay connected with our children and their families.
This week we started to plan our virtual Rainbow Sports Day challenge.
This week Primary 1 have been learning about food, where it comes from and how it grows. We have even been planting our own seeds. We have also been taking part in our virtual sports day and have been earning points for our Houses.
This was a short three day week of learning and the children enjoyed reading non fiction books all about senses. This week they learned about the sense of smell and animals senses. The children then discussed with their family members the interesting facts that they had learned.

We learnt about organs and the different jobs they have in our bodies. Did you know that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice versa?
LI I can explain why organs are important and what jobs they do in our bodies.
This week we reflected with our school school rich task question on how we stay physically fit and shared our thoughts through slides, videos and photos.
LI: I can say what exercise I enjoy doing and why it is good for me.
Primary 3CH also stayed active by creating their own barefoot trails.
We also learnt about organs and the different jobs they have in our bodies. Did you know that the left side of your brain controls the right side of your body, and vice versa?
We looked at the benefits of exercise and the impact this has on us personally
We created our own weekly fitness plans to help us set personal targets
We learnt about the main functions of our body and how to keep these strong and healthy
We planned at the start of the week to get us thinking about what makes us feel good. We added to these plans as the week went on, to help us with our reflection activity on Friday.
For our reflections we shared videos, word art, made posters and really enjoyed telling each other about what we like to do to stay healthy!
Life is full of ups and downs that can affect how we think, feel or behave. If we have lots of good things happening it can be easier to cope. If we have lots of difficult things happening it can be much harder.

P6/7 Pupil Response.
It was announced by the Government last week that adults who can’t to do their job from home should go back to work but those who can work from home
should continue working from home. The Government is encouraging members of the public to avoid using public transport when they can and to only use it if they have no other option. They have asked people to walk or cycle to get to places if they can. This is because walking or cycling make social distancing easier for people and they can put less pressure on public transport.
In train stations hand sanitiser dispensers have been installed limiting the number of passengers on trains and making sure people on trains are
spread out. On busses and public transport we will have to wear masks and we will be spread out more. We will have to wait longer for a bus to come.
I don’t think anything will go back to normal. People will be scared to travel abroad until there is a vaccine. My relatives have been stuck in Spain. They are now going to have to drive home via the channel tunnel as the ferry is not running. Flights will have less passengers, we will have to wear masks, nothing will be the same.

Considering why physical activity is so important to take part in, especially when thinking about teenagers . Taking in to account the mental health work we have covered and the activities we have been doing with Joe Wicks, we are in a better place to reflect and appreciate the positive impact of exercise in our lives.
