This week we have been thinking about what we have been doing at home to keep ourselves healthy and happy.
We were learning about our senses and how the different parts of the eye helps is see.
P4 have been exploring the British Charity ‘Young Minds’ and the charities play in our lives. Young Minds was set up to lead the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. https://youngminds.org.uk/
We then thought about who helps us stay happy. Friends, family, teachers, pets ... and reflected on how they do it.
We planned at the start of the week to get us thinking about what makes us feel good. We added to these plans as the week went on, to help us with our reflection activity on Friday.
At the end of the week we answered the question ‘what makes me and others feel good?’ We displayed our thoughts in music, artwork, videos, Google slides and Word Art!

After watching this video, we read through some inspiring quotes and looked at some examples of art. We then created line drawing self portraits.
These were reflective pieces of art where we considered our strengths and positive personality traits. We also asked our family what they thought our strengths were!

The children reflected afterwards of the remarkable work of Florence Nightingale. They cited her improvements in combating the disease by improving standards of cleanliness and the social distancing of beds. They found connections with today and recognise that Nightingale dramatically improved the standards of nursing in this country and throughout the world.

Developing a healthy lifestyle through learning how to cook. Cooking is a life-ling skill everyone should have as it keeps you fed and helps you appreciate where food comes from.
LI: I can show my skills on Google Slides
Context: Instructions for a recipe / Collaborative task
We are creating a slideshow of favourite food recipes. We can look and experiment with making one another’s recipes if this goes well. This will be a lovely mini-project to be involved in. If you have never cooked this could be a good time to learn a new skill.
