Universal Support

Robust universal support will enable us to ensure wellbeing, equity and inclusion across St Machar Academy.

Universal Support is everyone's responsibility and it comprises of several key ingredients, which are integral to high-quality learning across St Machar Academy:

• Positive relationships and behaviour;
• Regular learner conversations (feedback) that enable young people to identify their strengths and next steps;
• Access to learning and teaching materials that are of the appropriate level of challenge (differentiation) combined with the right levels of pace and support;
• Access to learning and teaching resources that overcome barriers (such as overlays, pencil grips, TextHelp etc.);
• Professional dialogue that enables all staff to know young people as individuals.

Our school community values play a crucial role in underpinning universal support. It is important to remember that no two learners are the same: equity results in equality.
