The St Machar Academy's associated school's group (ASG) has a multi-agency forum that convenes monthly. Guided by the GIRFEC principles, the forum exists to provide a level of targeted intervention beyond school level. Collectively, the group are in a unique position to maintain an overview of trends and needs across the ASG with each individual bringing their own area of expertise.
The group consists of:
- Depute Head Teacher (Secondary) - GIRFEC & Safeguarding
- Head Teachers (Primary)
- PT Transition (ASG)
- School Based Police Officer
- School Nurse
- Education Social Worker
- Educational Psychologist
- Team Leader - Community Learning and Development
- Representatives from Children's Social Work
A support referral may be made to the forum in conjunction with the young person's school and there family - the people who know the child best. The nature of support requested varies for each young person, but it may include targeted support from the agencies in attendance or a referral to Play Therapy UK. As with any request for support, not all referrals will qualify for immediate action: some may be added to a waiting list and feedback from the group will be provided to the referrer(s).
