Personal and Social Education (PSE)

All young people at St Machar Academy attend PSE one period per week. These lessons are planned and led by the relevent PT Guidance. Broadly speaking, PSE focuses on holistic health (mental, social, emotional and physical) and wellbeing (safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible, included) education. It aims to empower young people to make safe, informed and appropriate choices, and to highlight the links between this and positive life outcomes.

The PSE curriculum focuses on four broad areas:

    1. Planning for Choices and Change
    2. Physical Activity and Health
    3. Substance Misuse
    4. Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood
