Setting the Table
At Brimmond, we believe that snack and meal time should be about so much more than just eating!
Snack allows wonderful opportunities to:
Practise physical skills and begin to take responsibility for their own health and hygiene.
Develop social skills; building relationships with staff and children.
Promotes independence.
Improve language and communication skills.
Helps foster positive relationships with food, helping children identify healthy and unhealthy choices.
Allow children to help prepare and taste a variety of foods, discovering likes and dislikes and learning how to express themselves.
Learn how to handle kitchen equipment safely.
Provide a clear structure to the day, which for some children can be a reassuring routine that marks the passing of time.
We follow the “Setting the Table” and “Food Matters” policies to ensure that we are supporting our children to have a positive eating experience and enjoy nutritious, well-balanced food.
