Please join us on Thursday, December 9th at 5:30 pm for a celebration of our return to Project Based Learning.
Since the beginning of the school year, A2 STEAM students have been creating understandings of themselves, their community, and the universe in ways that were not possible through virtual instruction. They have attended to complex problems, questions, and prompts. Through inquiry, collaborative discourse, and design, students have attempted to solve those problems and address those questions with creative solutions called public products.
Traditionally, we have hosted a biannual live exposition of creative expression dubbed "EXPO" where students have the opportunity to share their public products with family members and other project stakeholders. Due to the ongoing global health crisis, we have created this website to highlight the process and host the content produced by students since we have been back to school.
Every grade level has embarked upon at least one project, and every student has created public products in teams in addition to personal artifacts or portfolios that represent their understanding of the project. We invite families and other stakeholders to explore this space. We also encourage students to guide their families and caregivers through the website, sharing their artifacts of learning and talking about their journey along the way. We are immensely proud of the learning happening here at A2 STEAM. We hope you are just as delighted to interact with this website.
Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. Students demonstrate their knowledge and skills by developing a public product or presentation for a real audience.
As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as success skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills in the context of doing an authentic, meaningful project. Project Based Learning unleashes a contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.
