Schedule Change Requets must meet one of the following reasons before the School Counselor approves a class change:
Thank you for contacting School Counseling, as we navigate into semester 2 we appreciate your patience with the AACPS scheduling process.
We ask that you read the process below carefully:
Students who wish to apply for a course change/correction for S2 must complete this form which will go live Wednesday, January 21st, then follow the assigned schedule in PowerSchool until you have been notified by AACPS email that your request has been approved/denied.
Do not send requests to the counselor by email, requests will only be taken by way of this form.
Course Requests begin January 21st through February 3rd. Only requests made within the first 10 days of the semester will be considered. Schedule changes will not be addressed before this time.
Counselors will have responded to all requests by Monday, February 9th, it is your responsibility to monitor your AACPS email.
Requests will only be approved for the following reasons as outlined in the AACPS Board of Education Policy (see Parent Handbook pg. 49):
Schedule Corrections
The following reasons may be accepted by the principal to make schedule corrections:
1. Adding courses for seniors who need a specific course to meet graduation requirements.
2. Correcting courses for sequential order.
3. Inserting courses to deal with failures from the previous school year or semester.
4. Deleting courses previously taken and passed.
5. Adding new courses to replace those made up in summer school.
6. Adding academic subjects recommended by colleges or employers (must be certified in writing by the college or employer).
7. Correcting courses for health reasons (must be certified in writing by a physician).
8. Changing courses because of a course correction in another subject.
9. Changing courses as a result of teacher recommendation.
10. Other reasons as determined by the principal.
11. Student is missing a core subject, Math, Science, Social Studies, English (come during class that needs dropped)
12. Student is missing a graduation requirement
No student should report to counseling for a correction, you are to remain in the class, complete the google form then wait until you have heard from your school counselor.
Only students with a missing period or double scheduled class period should report to H115, you must check in with Mrs. Cullum when you arrive BEFORE you sign in.
Corrections will be handled by priority in order of which they are received, determined by the School Counselor.
Google Form will be open Wednesday, Jan 21st - Tuesday, Feb 3rd.
Counselors will have resolved all requests no later than Monday, Feb 9th.
Students are to report to H115 for the following Scheduling Conflicts only:
All students who match one of the following reasons will sign in with Mrs. Cullum in the H115. Students will be seen by the school counselor in the order of which they have signed in. Students are to arrive before the late bell.
1.) Students with a blank schedule are to report directly to H115 before 8:30, or immediately following bus arrival.
2.) Missing a class period in the schedule (student has 1B, 2B & 4B - missing 3B, student is to arrive to H115 at the beginning of the missing period.
3.) Students scheduled twice for the same class period (example two 1A classes) student should arrive to H115 during the conflicted period.
Students will be seen by the school counselor in the order of which they have signed in.
Students should monitor Email and PowerSchool for schedule updates
Counselors will email scholars once approved/denied
