Using Hangouts we shared the presentations here, Understanding Audiences.
Using Google Sites for Student Portfolio Work
Nick Jones: In Philosophy they have trialled using Google Sites instead of essays. A Google Site has the advantage of allowing for multimedia content, branching narratives and can be introducing as a valuable new skill to the student. Google Sites can also be "given" as a copy, to the student at the end of their studies, allowing them to take their work away whilst York retain the final version.
Using Google Spreadsheets and Awesome Tables to Share Data
Ian Hall: The Information Directorate has hundreds of projects in various categories such as Student Experience or Research Excellence. Ian wanted to share his spreadsheet of projects without including all the data. Awesome Tables are a Google Site gadget that can take parts of your data and present it in a table that in interactive, allowing people to drill down to the information they need.
Showing live data from Ian's spreadsheet, the list of projects is available, on our main university site.
