School Counselors

Matt Walden     (Students A - K) (English Language Learners)

Mr. Walden was born and raised in Ventura and even attended Cabrillo during it's last year as a junior high. He attended UCSB and received a BA in English Literature; CSUN for his multiple-subject teaching credential; and CLU for his MS in School Counseling and PPS credential.  He was a teacher for 11 years at E.P. Foster Elementary School, but decided he wanted to become a school counselor so he could work even more closely with individual students and their families. He has been a school counselor at Cabrillo for 16 years now and has loved every minute of it.  Mr. Walden just earned 25 service years in Ventura Unified School District. Mr. Walden is bilingual in Spanish. In his spare time, Matt enjoys the arts, traveling, spending time with his family, and playing and watching almost all sports.

Alyssa Knowles    (Students L - Z)

Mrs. Knowles was born in Oregon and moved to Ventura when she was 8. She left to attend California State University, Fullerton on an athletic scholarship. She finished her schooling and volleyball career at California State University, Chico. Mrs. Knowles is the Intramural Adviser and WEB Coordinator. An interesting fact about Mrs. Knowles is that she has an identical twin sister and twin brothers. In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dog, Bo and watching her son play basketball and high jump for Rio Mesa High School.  This will be Mrs. Knowles 9th year at Cabrillo Middle School, and her 10th year in Ventura Unified School District.
