Matt Walden (Students A - K) (English Language Learners)
Mr. Walden was born and raised in Ventura and even attended Cabrillo during it's last year as a junior high. He attended UCSB and received a BA in English Literature; CSUN for his multiple-subject teaching credential; and CLU for his MS in School Counseling and PPS credential. He was a teacher for 11 years at E.P. Foster Elementary School, but decided he wanted to become a school counselor so he could work even more closely with individual students and their families. He has been a school counselor at Cabrillo for 18 years now and has loved every minute of it. Mr. Walden is bilingual in Spanish and is learning Portuguese. In his spare time, Matt enjoys the arts, traveling, spending time with his family, especially his grand-daughter and playing and watching almost all sports.
Alyssa Knowles (Students L - Z)
Mrs. Knowles was born in Oregon and moved to Ventura when she was 8. She left to attend California State University, Fullerton on an athletic scholarship. She finished her schooling and volleyball career at California State University, Chico. Go Wildcats! Mrs. Knowles is an avid learner is all things school counseling, with a focus on law and ethics, and continues to be part of the WEB Program as a Coordinator. An interesting fact about Mrs. Knowles is that she has an identical twin sister and twin brothers. In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dog, Bo and watching her son & daughter play sports and grow into wonderful human beings. This will be Mrs. Knowles 10th year at Cabrillo Middle School.
