Kansas Buffalo Assn Scholarship - Oct. 15
The Kansas Buffalo Association is offering a $1000 scholarship to a high school senior or first-year college freshmen who are involved in raising bison and/or is planning to pursue a career in an agriculturally related field. The KBA invites interested applicants to complete an application, provide one letter of reference and submit a 500-word essay outlining their relationship/interest in bison and why they should receive the scholarship. KBA members may act as sponsors to qualify family, friends or a member of a local school or county ag-related organization (FFA, 4H, etc.) for this scholarship.
Applications and supporting materials are due by Oct. 15. The scholarship will be awarded at the 29th Kansas Buffalo Association Sale in Salina, Kan., on Dec. 1. Either the recipient or his/her designate must be present to accept the scholarship and have a picture taken with a representative from the sponsoring organization.

VFW Voice of Democracy - Due Date: Oct 31st
Description: Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, nearly 40,000 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $2.1 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The scholarship is $100 for Local Winner (Great Bend, Claflin, Ellinwood, & Hoisington). Could get up to $30,000 scholarship if you qualify. This scholarship must be turned into the guidance office no later than October 25th.

Rudd Scholarship - Due Date: Oct 14th - Dec 13th
Description: The Rudd Scholarship is a Kansas program for Kansas residents who qualify for a Pell Grant and gives preference to first-generation and underrepresented students. Must be admitted and will attend either Emporia State, Fort Hays State, or Wichita State University.
Eligibility: Must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident, Must be a resident of the state of Kansas and qualify for in-state tuition, Must have a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 or above, Graduating high school and will enroll full-time in the Fall, Demonstrated financial need (Pell-eligible), Preference is given for first-generation, underrepresented students at each college institution.

John Cowan Memorial Scholarship - Due Date: Jan 1 - April 15th
Description: The Kansas Association of Mappers (KAM) is now accepting applications online for the John Cowan Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students within the State of Kansas pursuing a professional career in the field of Geography attained through a geographic-focused education. The successful applicant must: 1. Be enrolled as an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate student in a post-secondary educational institution within the State of Kansas. 2. Be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in a Geography-based profession. 3. Be able to show the intent to make Geography or a Geography related career the major focus of your higher education. KSDE AEOP Margaret VanHorn Scholarship - Due Date: Jan 17th
Description: Funds for the Margaret Van Horn Scholarship have been allocated by members of the Kansas State Department of Education Association of Educational Office Professionals (KSDE AEOP). The scholarship program is open to current Kansas High School, College, and/or Technical School students. A scholarship is awarded annually. The amount is based on gifts and funds raised by the association. The amount for this year is $300. Description: GPACAC awards three $1,000 scholarships to students in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma, each year. KHERF (Kansas Hospital Education & Research Foundation)- Due Date: Feb 28th
Description: All Kansans pursuing a degree or certificate in healthcare are encouraged to apply for the twelfth annual "Encouraging Excellence" scholarships. KHERF partners with the Kansas Association of Health Care Executives, the Kansas Hospital Human Resources' Association, the Kansas Chapter of HIMSS, and the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care to provide 30 individual scholarships in various healthcare disciplines. Westar Energy Craft Scholarship - March 1st
Description: A minimum of four craft scholarships will be awarded yearly in the amount of $3,000, renewable for up to two years. Must be a resident of Kansas or attending a Kansas high school • Must be an upcoming graduating high school senior or must have graduated last year • Must be pursuing a degree in electric power and distribution, power plant technology, wind energy, industrial technology or other industry-related degrees • Must be eligible to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (line worker scholarship only) • Must enroll as a full-time student in degree program (does not have to be enrolled prior to scholarship award, but must be a full-time student in degree program to receive award) • Must maintain 2.5 GPA during degree program • If 18, must be willing to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record Check (drug free with no DUI convictions) • Females and minorities are urged to apply

Better Business Bureau "Student of Integrity Awards" - Due Date: Mar 6th
Description: The Better Business Bureau "Student of Integrity Awards" will award 3 students from the Kansas Plains each a $2,000 scholarship. Description: The Kansas Contractors Association is offering a minimum $2,000 scholarship for any student enrolled in a construction management, construction science, construction engineering technology or related field of study at an accredited Kansas university, community college or technical college. Kansas Crime Stoppers Assn Scholarship - Due Date: Mar 23th
Description: In order to apply for this award of $300, the student must be a senior in good standing. The application must include attached scholarship form, letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or Crime Stoppers member. The student must include an original essay describing their future goals and objectives. A non-returnable photo is requested for media purposes. All materials must be completed & submitted by March 23rd. The scholarship will be awarded April 20th and is non-renewable.

Description: The recipients of the $500 scholarships will be announced at the KCCEOA Conference in May in Wichita. Scholarships are limited to applicants who are enrolling or enrolled to study journalism, political science, communications or business.
