Throughout this semester I was able to interact with my students, teachers and parents. These experiences have been greatly rewarding for my formation as an educator because they helped me understand that opportunities for students to learn go beyond the classroom. Different learning experiences can be achieved when members within the same community come together towards a common goal. That is why I include some pictures of collaborations and activities I was part of during the semester. I had the chance to bring students to a Library Week, help my practicum partners with bulletin board decorations, support teachers with educational seminars, participating and helping in the school's Field Day, student's work display, door decorations and integrated group activities. From all of these different experiences I was able to learn from others, I improved my patience with others, got the opportunity to build relationships with my fellow teachers. It was rewarding to see that when they needed any kind of help they knew they could count on me. In regards to participating in school events I had the chance to meet with my students parents and talk to them and this also build a stronger relationship with my students. As time progressed and I got more involved with my school, students and peers were more comfortable talking to me and sharing their thoughts. I also learned that if I displayed my students work around the school they get very excited about it and motivated as well.

In regards to participating in school events I had the chance to meet with my students parents and talk to them and this also build a stronger relationship with my students. I also learned that if I displayed my students work around the school they get very excited about it and motivated as well.
The experiences I had involving myself with the school's community was extremely rewarding for me. I enjoyed getting to learn from my peers and as well as from my students. I was able to form healthy professional relationships with the parents and when I had the chance to communicate to them a concern, they would help and talk to their child. That is why it is so important to get involve with not only the teachers of your school but getting involved and know who are your student's parents. Is also important to get to know who is the administrative workers of the school, the cafeteria workers and the janitors who help keep the school clean. You learn from every single interaction you make with others and that is one of the many things I enjoyed very much.
Being part of community required me to be more social and be the first to approach others which is something I had difficulty with in the beginning. What I mean by this is that, I intend to sometimes be introverted in regards to making the first approach towards others. However, I learned how to little by little be more outspoken and make necessary approaches without second guessing myself. That is something that I am grateful that I got to improve and strengthen within myself through the semester. The results of me having the determination to get involve with the school left me with many life changing learning experiences. The different experiences mentioned has made me a better educator because I got to communicate effectively with others, learn from my pears, have better patience, motivate others and the understanding that learning experiences can be achieved in and out of the classroom.
Children spend 8 hours, 5 days a week, for approximately 10 months in a classroom. This implies that teachers are the ones who accompany the student (after their parents) during a large part of their lives from kindergarten through 12th grade. The teacher takes on the role of facilitator for the acquisition of knowledge on the part of the children. Within the school community, in addition to the teachers and students themselves, the school community also includes peers, principals, and parents. Each person who is part of the school community influences teaching. A good dynamic within the school community occurs when there is good communication between the teacher, the principal, and his/her colleagues and between the teacher and the parents. Having a good relationship with colleagues allows for a good working environment. Good communication between parents and teachers’ benefits students by giving them the opportunity to be more successful in their performance in the classroom. In addition, one way schools can make space for the school community is through activities where parents can come to enjoy, participate in, or help plan events. Holding activities such as Puerto Rican Day, Christmas lightings, talent shows, game day among others are excellent ways to integrate parents and the entire school community.

After completing the work, the students were delighted with me and invited me to their game day activity so that we could share together once again. Las escuelas no están ajenas a lo que sucede fuera de ellas, el contexto social y la educación van de la mano porque lo que sucede fuera del plantel escolar influye de una manera u otra en el salón de clases. Factores como la situación que enfrenta el país con la educación, familiares de los estudiantes, donde viven y donde se encuentra ubicada la escuela afectan el entorno educativo y son cosas de las cuales los maestros no tienen control sobre ellas, pero sí pueden buscar formas para que estos factores no afecten de tanto al prepararse y estar conscientes de estas situaciones. Las familias de los niños son un aspecto esencial, por ejemplo, en el salón de clase se puede enseñar algo, pero si en los hogares no se refuerza el desempeño no será el mismo de un estudiante que sí tiene refuerzo en el hogar. También en los hogares pueden suceder situaciones las cuales pueden afectar el desempeño del estudiante, por lo tanto, para poder remediar los efectos de estas situaciones dentro del salón, entre los maestros y padres se debe promover la comunicación efectiva como también con el resto de la comunidad educativa.

En una experiencia que tuve pude ver cómo, cuando los niños se enferman y están mucho tiempo en el hospital esto afecta no tan solo a los niños y su tiempo de escuela, sino que también a los padres que se tienen que permanecer con ellos todo el tiempo que se estén hospitalizados. La iglesia donde pertenezco lleva varios años visitando hospitales en temporada navideña para llevarles regalos y un momento de felicidad a los niños y los padres que estuviesen allí. En diciembre del 2018 no fue la excepción y visitaron el Hospital Hermanos Meléndez en Bayamón. A diferencia de otros años, ese día logré ir junto con el grupo de jóvenes de la iglesia y fuimos disfrazados de personajes de Disney.

Por otro lado, aun así, puedo decir que en general, la experiencia si fue muy bonita porque aún en medio de todo el cansancio o desanimo que pudiesen estar sintiendo, fue un momento donde pudimos alegrar a los niños y sus padres; las sonrisas que tenían en sus caras fueron verdaderamente gratificante.

En esos casos la comunicación de los padres y los maestros es esencial porque en el momento que los niños regresan a clases, tanto el maestro como el estudiante y sus padres deben hacer los arreglos pertinentes para que el niño pueda cubrir y/o reponer el material perdido de las clases presenciales.
Coloco estas fotos como evidencia ya que estaba consciente que estas situaciones suceden a menudo, estudiantes que por alguna razón no puedan asistir a clase por un periodo de tiempo, lo cual puede significar un posible “atraso” en cuanto a material dado.
