Our research is aimed at determining whether peoples' socio-economic status (SES) modifies the association between climate variability and incidence of malaria in India. Since SES is associated with general quality of life in terms of hygienic living conditions, including access to clean water and sanitation, it is expected that these might affect vulnerability to disease. Studies that show an association between cholera incidence and changes in regional environmental variables including temperature also show that SES characteristics of patients modify this association.
