This study aims to characterize the dynamics of the emergence of antibiotic resistance in chickens under different antibiotic usage regimes on small-scale poultry farms and examine the relative importance of independent antibiotic-induced evolution of resistance versus environmental (litter) and chicken-to-chicken transmission of resistance.
