Gabrielle (Gabby) grew up in Wyoming, Michigan and attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree. She has bachelor's degrees in Microbiology and Molecular Genomics & Genetics. During her undergraduate studies, she first completed a research project studying microbial ecology with Dr. James Teidje. After discovering her interest in immunology, she changed research directions and worked with Dr. Andrew Olive studying the genetics of macrophage antigen presentation. After graduation in 2019, she joined the PIBS class of 2019 and the Immunology Graduate Program in May 2020. She is being co-mentored by Beth Moore and Durga Singer and her project aims to understand the mechanics behind the severe morbidity and mortality seen in diabetic patients with pulmonary infections. Gabby is also completing the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate.
Outside of lab, Gabby enjoys volunteering at the Humane Society of Huron Valley, enjoying Michigan's beautiful lakes, and hanging out with her dog, Duke. She got married to Andrew Entrup in 2023! Congrats Gabby!
