Elissa Hult

Originally from Rochester, NY, I graduated from Williams College (Massachusetts) as a double major in Biology and in Music. While at Williams I conducted a wide variety of biological research (ecology, microbiology, physiology) and enjoyed playing with the semi-professional Berkshire Symphony (violin) and dancing on my toes as a tap and Irish step dancer. After completing my degree, I moved to the D.C. area where I continued to play my violin as concertmaster of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Philharmonia and worked as a Science Teaching Fellow at the Potomac School, teaching physiology and the natural sciences to my middle and high school students. Two years later, I decided to fully dive in and pursue my love of science research and applied to graduate school. I was fortunate to make my way to Michigan and even more fortunate to become of member of Beth's lab (2018) where I now focus my studies on the role of myeloid-derived HB-EGF in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Congrats to Elissa for passing her prelims in August, 2018 with distinction!
