I joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1997 as a research-track faculty member in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine division. I was appointed to the instructional track in 2003 and rose through the ranks to be promoted to full professor with tenure in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Microbiology and Immunology in 2011. In addition to my research efforts, I directed the Graduate Program in Immunology till 2019. In 2019, I became interim-chair of Microbiology and Immunology and in 2021 was named the permanent chair. I am excited to be the first woman and immunologist to lead the department. My laboratory has focused on two main areas: 1) the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis and 2) regulation of innate and adaptive immunity post-stem cell transplant. More recently we moved into studies of innate and adaptive immunity in the lung related to diabetes as well.
About Me: I am married to Thomas Moore, another faculty member within the Pulmonary Division of Internal Medicine. I have two grown children (Jessica and Ian) and two granddaughters, River and Willow! My hobbies are reading, travel and playing golf. My students, fellows, alumni and staff are awesome!
