The Moore laboratory is part of the University of Michigan Medical School and is now housed in room 5608 Med Sci 2, 1150 W. Medical Center Drive., Ann Arbor, MI 48109-5620.

Dr. Moore has appointments both the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.  Dr. Moore is currently the Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.  Dr. Moore is the former director of the Graduate Program in Immunology.  

Her laboratory is broadly interested in the pathogenesis of lung fibrosis, the regulation of innate and adaptive immunity post-stem cell transplant and in the setting of diabetes and secondary bacterial pneumonia post-influenza.  Her laboratory works with herpesviruses, influenza, coronavirus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and MRSA.  The photo at the right is us in our new lab space!

Congrats to Xiaofeng Zhou on his new NIH R01 to study microbiome imacts on lung fibrogenesis post-transplant.

August, 2021-Congrats to Elissa on her first PhD paper as first author which was accepted into AJP Lung!  Xiaofeng and Beth also published a new review article together.  Steve Gurczynski published his paper on TDO2 and herpesvirus post-BMT in JCI Insight!

April, 2021 Beth is named permanent chair of M&I

June 2020: Elissa earns honors in two separate virtual poster session for Physiology.  We are especially happy to see her be named a 2020 MPS Premier Presenters for the Michigan Physiological Society!

May 2020:The Moore lab says goodbye to Carol Wilke who retires after more than 2 decades of service at UM.  We will miss her!  However, we welcome Monica Bame, PhD to the new role of lab manager!

May, 2020: The Moore laboratory welcomes Gabrielle Huizinga.  Gabby is an Immunology PhD student who will do a joint project with Beth Moore and Durga Singer as co-mentors.  Her work will relate to infection and diabetes.

Winter, 2020: The Moore lab (along with the rest of UM) had a shut down of our laboratory due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  During that time, we work remotely.  

December 2019, Helen Warheit-Niemi gets a fundable score on her F31 application!

November, 2019:  Helen Rich joins the Moore laboratory to work on influenza-bacteria co-infection and role of TLR9 as a post-doctoral fellow.

July, 2019:  Elissa gets a fundable score on her F31 application!  Beth is named interim chair of M&I.

January, 2019 4 publications for the Moore lab accepted!  Xiaofeng's paper showing that first onset herpesviral infection predicts IPS was published in Am.J. Respir. Crit. Care. Med.  David's paper showing dysbiosis of the lung microbiota post-bleomycin and that germ-free mice are protected from bleomycin-induced mortality was also accepted at Am.J. Respir. Crit. Care. Med.  Both got editorials!  Giovanny's final paper showing that TLR9-/- mice do worst to H1N1 + MRSA was accepted at PLoS Pathogens and Elissa and Steve contributed to a paper accepted at AJP Lung showing myeloid loss of PP2A worsens acute lung injury and fibrosis.

December, 2018  Congrats to Steve, Helen and Elissa on acceptance of CCR2 mediates increased susceptibility to post-H1N1 bacterial pneumonia by limiting dendritic cell induction of IL-17 in Mucosal Immunol

August, 2018  Giovanny Martinez-Colon successfully defends his PhD dissertation and Elissa and Helen both pass prelims!

July, 2018 Steve Gurczynski gets named as a Parker B. Francis fellow and also earns a PTSP fellowship!

May 2018 Elissa Hult and Helen Warheit-Niemi join the lab!  Elissa is a Physiology graduate student and Helen is a Microbiology and Immunology graduate student.

June, 2017 David O'Dwyer recieves the K99R00 award!

May 8, 2017.  Beth Moore was installed as the Galen B. Toews, M.D. Collegiate Professor of Internal Medicine. This was a huge honor since Dr. Toews was her mentor and colleague for over 12 years.

May, 2017.  David O'Dwyer just got his IPF vs. normal biomarker paper accepted in Scientific Reports!

Nice job Steve on getting your paper on CCR2 and the regulation of herpesvirus-induced pneumonitis and fibrosis accepted at AJP Lung.  This paper was nominated as the best paper by a junior investigator published in AJP Lung in 2016!  We are very proud!

September 28, 2016: Congrats to Steve Gurczynski for doing a great job on his oral presentation at ICLAF 2016 in Dublin, Ireland.  David O'Dwyer's poster was also really well received!  Great science and Guinness...always a popular pairing!July 20, 2015: We welcome Dr. David O'Dwyer who will perform his research during his pulmonary fellowship in our laboratory!
