The Streets of Edmonton

Edmonton will provide you with a diverse shopping experience. Setting out on foot to explore the boutiques and galleries is a great introduction to the city and our charismatic communities. There are multiple sections of our city that are known for unique and good quality products. Here they are listed in no particular order:

1) Old Strathcona has been named one of Canada's five best shopping neighborhoods with over 600 business to explore! Located along the strip of Whyte Avenue, you have 20 city blocks of shops, restaurants, organic markets and pubs to explore. Of note, we recommend the Old Strathcona Antique Mall where you will absolutely find a unique treasure.

2) 124th Street is a beautiful up-and-coming area of downtown with a tangible community feel. Featuring some of Edmonton's finest restaurants and independent art galleries amongst a myriad of specialty shops, it is a fun area to explore. We argued over our favorites to recommend, so to make it simpler we say just go there and see for yourself; but don't forget to eat at Duchess!

3) 104th Street & Jasper Ave may only be a few blocks worth of shops, but what it lacks in distance it makes up for in quality. Here you will find high-end furniture stores, an olive oil shop, independent boutiques, great restaurants and our new Rogers Place - home of the Edmonton Oilers and Oil Kings. Take a tour and walk a little further to the City Market Downtown, open both Saturdays and Sundays. The market, which started in 1903, is the pride of the city and draws Edmontonians and tourists alike.

Malls

Edmonton loves to shop. From neighbourhood malls, to outlet centres, to one of the world's largest malls - we have it all. We also do not have any provincial sales tax!

The West Edmonton Mall most likely has anything you could ever want. There are so many stores, I'm sure everyone lost count.

The mall has shopping and dining and fun activities with a waterpark, ice rink, mini golf, theatre, rollercoaster and more.

The question is; what can't you do at the West Edmonton Mall?

South Edmonton Common is Canada's largest power retail centre with outlets spanning over 320 acres. Their newest occupant is Nordstrom Rack. Home of IKEA; when you move here for your residency you will absolutely find yourself shopping there!

There are many more malls in Edmonton: Southgate Centre, Kingsway mall and Edmonton City Centre mall to name a few.

Need some professional clothes to start your residency? Check out the new YEG Premium Outlet Collection shopping centre. With over 428,000 square feet of shopping space, an airport transit shuttle service , flight status screens and luggage storage.

Have fun shopping!
