Introductory Geometry Drawing Project
Intro: The chapter we have covered most recently has introduced us to both the vocab and symbols of basic geometry. The point of this project is to solidify our understanding of both of these. For this project you will create a drawing on graph paper and will give step by step directions on how to create your drawing on a coordinate plane using proper symbols and notations that we have learned in this chapter. After projects are completed we will switch with someone and try to draw their project using their directions. Half of your assessment (10 points) will be the quality of your directions. Someone else will need to be able to create your drawing using your directions. The second half of your assessment (10 points) will be how well you do properly using vocab and symbols.
The following must be present and identified in your drawing project. Please write the coordinates of where they can be found on your drawing.
-line segment:
-point:
-angle:
-vertex:
-congruent:
-right angle:
-midpoint:
-angle bisector:
-parallel:
-perpendicular:
-intersection:
You must include half of the following in your project and give the coordinates of where they can be found:
-vertical angles
-supplementary angles (linear angles)
-complimentary angles:
-concave polygon:
-scalene triangle:
-isosceles triangle:
-trapezoid:
-regular polygon:
-equilateral triangle:
-square or rectangle:
Please make sure your drawing and directions are in final draft form! Additional vocab inclusion is a bonus!
10/26: Chapter 3!
-Introduce compass and straightedge
-go over the difference between sketch, draw, and construct
-3.1 1-5, 9 and 10 complete one of the two drawings at the bottom of 137, if there is time, do both
-3.2 Go over setting a notebook. Keep a part for Conjectures. As a class construct a perpendicular bisector.
Assignment: 1-10, 13 and 14
