Perks

Knight

Prerequisites: Social Status 2, High Society 8-

Value: 4 Character Points

Knights can be either Free Knights or Ordered. Being a knight requires, at least in title, 2 ranks of Social Status, the Right to Shelter (1 point), Right to Mete out Justice (3 points). There are other skills the knight may find essential (e.g. High Society, KS: Heraldry, Riding, etc.), but these are not required to be recognized and afforded the rights of knighthood.

Ordered Knights distinguish themselves by beloging to a specific order. The order must be purchased as an Organizational Contact (minimum 3 points) and a disadvantage Hunted (Watched by the Order).

Free Knights do not get an equipment discount, but do not have the restrictions (and some benefits) of being in an order. Personal equipment means only for the character - he can't purchase 3 longswords for instance since he only needs one. Characters found abusing this rule will find themselves punished by the order.

Social Status

Serf (10 point Social Limitation)

Labor Class/Peasant (5 point Social Limitation)

Trade Class/Commoner (0 points)

Status Perk (Points)

1: High Class (Master, Squire)

2: Knight*, Lord

3: Baronet

4: Baron

5: Viscount

6: Count

7: Earl

8: Duke

9: Grand Duke

10: Prince

Ranks higher than 10 (Crown Prince, King, Emperor) are not available to player characters.

All characters of High Class or greater must have at least 1pt familiarity with High Society

Characters must have 4x points in Nobility in Land and Castle, and typically staff to manage it. This means a Count would require a base worth 24 points to reflect his holdings. Characters who wish to raise their status later in the game must acquire (in-game or with points) the necessary base value and then they are able to purchase the increased rank. The exception to this is rank 2 (Knight, Lord) - such rank is not required to possess any holdings (although they can if desired, becoming a landed knight or a landed lord).
