When making an iPad available to our children, we are handing them access to an internet browser, video player, camera, music, email, games and more. While we are excited about this, we are also aware of the issues that this could present. The school encourages and works towards an eSmart environment where the smart, safe and responsible use of technology is the behavioural norm and is embraced, while being aware of the possible pitfalls. This behaviour is explicitly taught, modelled and encouraged.
At school the iPad is used as an educational tool where no time is allowed for recreational activities. We encourage our children to value the device as such.
At home families may choose to allow use of the iPad for other activities. That is a decision made by each family. Whatever your choice, below are some hints you may find helpful.
Ownership
The iPad belongs to the parents. Remind your child that the use of an iPad and other technologies comes with responsibilities and is based on trust. Set the rules clearly and be consistent with them.
Security Setting
Ensure all settings and restrictions outlined on this website are in place
Do not give your child the restriction code
You may choose to add an internet filtering service to your home system

Encourage transparency - monitor emails, websites, apps, photographs, videos
Social websites, such as facebook and instagram are age restricted to 13+
