Scholarships & Fundraising

College scholarships are awarded to our graduating seniors who have participated in FAST during their high school years.  The scholarships range from $150 to $1,000 depending on the number of years they swam with FAST.  

This year we will potentially give out $9,000 dollars in scholarships to high school students who have committed their time to FAST.   

We fund these scholarships through the sale of concessions and by conducting fundraisers.  

In 2025, we will utilize a fundraising website to ask friends and family to support your swimmer.  Personalized links will be available to send for donations.   Each family will be required to raise $75.  If you choose not to utilize the fundraiser, you may choose to make the donation yourself.  If you are unable to raise the full $75 through requests, you will be responsible for the remaining balance of $75.  

FAYETTE AREA SWIM TEAM 

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

RULES:

1. Swimmers must have been a member of the Fayette Area Swim Team during high school.

2. Swimmers must be a registered swimmer with Fayette Area Swim Team their senior year.

3. Meet one of the following during each year they were swimming:

   1. Swimmers swam at least two meets during each year they were registered (H2O time trial meets do not count.)

   2. Swimmers attended 80% of practices in May and provided a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer time either as a coach’s assistant or Lifeguard and have signed proof by the Head Coach for this requirement. Only applicable for school grade 9-12 swimmers.

4. Swimmers must have participated in annual scholarship fundraiser by selling allotted number of raffle tickets each year. Deductions are taken from missing sales.

5. If for some reason the swimmer cannot fulfill the requirements, a request in writing must be made to the Fayette Area Swim Team Board of Directors by the end of the current swim season to waive the requirement. The Board will make a decision to waive their requirement on an individual basis.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completed application forms.

2. The application must be returned to the counselor’s office by April 2 (or whatever date La Grange High School has set), of current year.

3. Register for Fayette Area Swim Team by April 15, of current year.

TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS:

1. Gift Scholarships of $150 to $1000 will be given, based on the number of years swimming and completion of the above eligibility requirements.

ONE YEAR BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL $200

ADDITIONAL YEARS (2 or more) BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL $200

FRESHMAN YEAR $150

SOPHOMORE YEAR $150

JUNIOR YEAR $150

SENIOR YEAR $150

TOTAL $1000

2. Recipients will be announced at the La Grange High School Awards Assembly and checks will be mailed to the recipients after proof of payment of higher education or military service is received by the Fayette Area Swim Team Board Treasurer.  The address to submit proof is PO Box 113, La Grange, Texas 79845 or email to board@fast1.com.  Note if using rule 3(b) for eligibility make sure to submit proof from the coach for all years where applicable.

1. The deadline to collect Scholarship money is one year from the date of Graduation.
