Monday - Read for 15 minutes and record reading in May Reading Log. Library with Ms. Nobbs. Religion chapter 25 pages 283 to 287. Complete and submit Trophies Practice Book pages 27 and 28. Sight Word practice. Social Studies Map Pages, (upload completed Map pages here). Music with Mrs. McCarl. Math Facts Set Y practice. Math chapter 19 pages 227-230.

Tuesday - Read for 15 minutes and record reading in May Reading Log. Music with Mrs. McCarl. Religion chapter 25 pages 288 to 293. Complete and submit Trophies Practice Book pages 29-31. Sight Word Practice. My World Social Studies Book pages 136-139. P. E. activity for Mrs. Taylor. Math Fact Practice Set Y. Math chapter 19 pages 231-234.

Wednesday - Read for 15 minutes and record reading in May Reading Log. Reading Eggs for 30 minutes. Create a Robot out of recycling materials and submit Robot photos. Write about your Robot, and make a final copy in yellow writing journal, (upload final copy of writing). Sight Word Test, upload Sight Word test results. Math chapter 19 pages 235 - 242.

Thursday - Read a story and complete and submit Story Summarizer. Complete and submit Trophies Practice book pages 32 and 33. Complete and submit Religion chapter 25 test page 294. Math Test set Y (upload completed math test here). Science Plant pages 40 and 41 (upload completed pgs 40/41).

Friday - Read for 15 minutes and record reading in May Reading Log. P.E. activity for Mrs. Taylor. Complete and submit Trophies Practice Book page 34-39. Complete Math chapter 19 pages 247-254, (submit Review/Test pages 253/254) Science Experiment of your choice.

We use a web based program called Reading Eggs to support reading skills. Students may access this website using the link above or visit http://www.readingeggs.com. The username is fmckinley@stvs.org and the password is firstgrade. Students have been using this program all year and know how to navigate the site once they get signed in. We recommend 30 minutes of practice per week day.

Writing: My Robot

Create a Robot out of recycling materials. Send pictures of your Robot to knorris@stvs.us. Write a story about your Robot. The story should have a beginning, middle and ending and include who/what, did what, where, when and why/how. Have a parent edit your story then write the final copy of your Robot story in your yellow writing journal. Submit your journal entry on Wednesday, May 6th. Hope you have a lot of fun with this project!

Reading Comprehension

Students should complete the Reading Comprehension worksheet based on a book or story of their choice which they have read this week. Upload completed worksheet or send a picture to fmckinley@stvs.us on Thursday, May 7th.

Students should review and practice sight words. We are reviewing the first 300 sight words. Please use the link above to view the sight words or use the pink packet in their homework folder. On Wednesday, May 6th a Parent should test their students on this weeks sight words and submit how many words out of the 25 the student was able to read (upload test results here).

Students should practice Math Facts set Y. On Thursday, May 6th a parent should give their student a 3 minute timed test on Math Fact Set Y (upload completed test here).

Math in Focus Chapter 19

Math in Focus Chapter 19. Pages 227-230 on Monday. Pages 231-234 on Tuesday. Pages 235-242 on Wednesday. Pages 243-246 on Thursday. Pages 247-254 on Friday. Submit completed chapter 19 review and test pages 253-254 on Friday, May 8th.

We use a web based program called Math Seeds to support math skills. Students may access this website using the link above or visit www.mathseeds.com. The username is fmckinley@stvs.org and the password is firstgrade. Students have been using this program all year and know how to navigate the site once they get signed in. We recommend 30 minutes of practice per week day.

The link above is for an excellent addition and subtraction trainer. The program will keep repeating math facts until students master them.

Religion

Religion packets were sent home on Wednesday, April 22nd. Students should complete chapter 25 pages 283-287 on Monday, May 4th. Pages 288-293 on Tuesday, May 5th. Complete and submit chapter 25 test, page 294 on Thursday, May 7th.

Students should complete pg 40 Plants Have Seeds and page 41 Seeds Travel (upload completed worksheets ) by Thursday, May 7th.

Science Experiment of Your Choice

Here is an example of one experiment called Watch Them Grow, that we would have done in class. Try it at home if you can or share a Science experiment of your choice.

Materials needed for this experiment are: a piece of flannel cloth material, a pie tin, some quick sprouting grass seed and a spray mist water bottle of water.

1. Mist the cloth with water and place it in the tin. 2. Scatter grass seed on the cloth. 3. Put the tin in a sunny place. Over the next few days observe what happens.

For Social Studies students should complete Asia and Antarctica worksheets and submit them on Monday, May 4th.


Complete pages 136-130 in your My World Social Studies book on Tuesday, May 5th.
