Reading

Read to self or read aloud for a minimum of 15 minutes per day, record reading in March/April reading log.

Turn in March reading log on or before Friday, April 3rd by using the link below or sending pictures to fmckinley@stvs.us.

We use a web based program called Reading Eggs to support reading skills. Students may access this website using the link above or visit http://www.readingeggs.com. The username is fmckinley@stvs.org and the password is firstgrade. Students have been using this program all year and know how to navigate the site once they get signed in. We recommend 30 minutes of practice per week day.

For writing students will write about an Airplane. The worksheet was sent home and can also be accessed using the link above. After completing the worksheet students should write a final copy with a colored picture in their writing journal. Upload completed journal entry using the link below or send a picture to fmckinley@stvs.us on or before Friday, April 3rd.

This weeks spelling words can be accessed above. Instead of doing our normal spelling sentences we will be using Spelling City for our spelling practice and spelling test this week. Details below.

Spelling City has offered schools premium memberships so we now have access to a lot of great online content to practice spelling and take a test. Using the link above your student will need to log in to their account. Username is student number, first name (or nickname Allie and Emmy) and first initial of last name, for example 7makaiof. Password is first name and first initial of last name, for example; makaiof. Please let us know if you have any issues logging in.

Use the link above to access the Reading and Mapping page for sound picture "ee", such as meet, he or funny. Have your student segment and blend each word. To segment they say each sound picture for example m ee t with a space between each sound. To blend the word they run their finger under each sound and say the word. If they use a different sound picture such as "e" as in met , just remind them that the sound picture they are working on is "ee ".

Use the link above to access the Sound Sorting page. On this page students will sort the different variations of the sound picture "ee". Students are familiar with the page and should be able to complete it. If more assistance is needed please contact Mrs. McKinley fmckinley@stvs.us or Mrs. Norris knorris@stvs.us.
