Monday - Do a puzzle or play a game with someone in your family. Library with Ms. Nobbs. Religion chapter 17 pages 195-197. Complete and submit Trophies Practice Book pages 47 and 48. Sight Word practice. Reading Eggs for 30 minutes. Social Studies Map Symbols pages 7 and 8, submit page 8. Music with Mrs. McCarl. Math chapter 13 pages 61-64. Practice Math Facts on Mathisfun.com

Tuesday - Read on a beach blanket or in a lounge chair for ten minutes/record reading in May Reading Log. Music with Mrs. McCarl. Religion chapter 17 pages 198 and 199. Sight Word Practice. Complete and submit Trophies Practice Book page 49. Phonographix with Mrs. Jutilla. Social Studies Map Symbols pages 10-12, submit pages 11 and 12. P. E. activity for Mrs. Taylor. Dress up in tropical /Hawaii decor and have a dance party. Math chapter 13 pages 65-68.

Wednesday - Read a story and complete and submit Liked/Did Not Like worksheet, record reading in May Reading Log. Write about something you are good at doing and something you would like to get better at doing and submit final journal entry. Religion chapter 17 pages 200-203. Sight Word Test, upload Sight Word test results. Complete and submit Trophies Practice book pages 50-51. Math chapter 13 pages 69-72. Culinary day - Make or cook something you like to eat.

Thursday - Read for 10 minutes and record reading in May Reading Log. P. E. activity for Mrs. Taylor. Go outside and bike ride, hoola hoop or scooter. Write out directions on how to do something and submit final journal entry. Religion chapter 17 pages 204-206, submit test page 206. Reading Eggs for 30 minutes. Complete and submit Trophies Practice Book pages 52-53. Science complete Food Chain page and submit. Math chapter 13 pages 73-76.

Friday - Teacher In-Service Day. NO SCHOOL!!!! Enjoy your well deserved day off! Watch a favorite movie and eat popcorn!


English Language Arts

We use a web based program called Reading Eggs to support reading skills. Students may access this website using the link above or visit http://www.readingeggs.com. The username is fmckinley@stvs.org and the password is firstgrade. Students have been using this program all year and know how to navigate the site once they get signed in. We recommend 30 minutes of practice per week day.

Wednesday: Writing about something you believe you are good at doing and something you would like to get better at doing. Make a final copy of your writing in your writing journal and submit it.

Thursday: Write out directions on how to do something. Use transition words in your writing like: before, first, next, then, after, last... Make sure to do a first copy/draft. Have your parents edit your first copy/draft and then complete a final copy into your writing journal and submit it.

Students should complete the Reading Comprehension worksheet based on a book or story of their choice which they have read this week. Mrs. McKinley's example. Upload completed worksheet on Wednesday.

Students should review and practice sight words. We are reviewing the first 300 sight words. Please use the link above to view the sight words or use the pink packet in their homework folder. On Wednesday, May 20th a Parent should test their students on this weeks sight words and submit how many words out of the 25 the student was able to read (upload test results here).

Math

Math in Focus Chapter 13. Pages 61-64 on Monday. Pages 65-68 on Tuesday. Pages 69-72 on Wednesday. Pages 73-76 on Thursday.

We recommend 30 minutes of practice per week day.

The link above is for an excellent addition and subtraction trainer. The program will keep repeating math facts until students master them.

Religion

Religion packets were sent home on Wednesday, April 22nd. Students should complete chapter 17 pages 195-197 on Monday, pages 198-199 on Tuesday, pages 200-203 on Wednesday, pages 204-206 on Thursday. Complete and submit chapter 17 test, page 206 on Thursday.
