Introductory Biology I (length of course- full year, five periods a week): This course, based on the Pennsylvania Academic standards for Science and Technology and Environment and Ecology, is designed for the student who is preparing for post-secondary study in a technical program. Topics will include the basic concepts of cells, genetics, ecology and a survey of the plant and animal kingdom. Real world applications of science will be featured especially as they relate to technical career possibilities. Laboratory safety and scientific method will be emphasized throughout the course. Appointment to this class is based on a review of the student’s academic proficiencies. Students in this course will take the Keystone Biology Exam.
