Academic Biology I (length of course- full year, five periods a week): This course, based on the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Science and Technology and Environment and Ecology, is designed for the academic student in tenth grade who has an average background in science. This course is based on the Pennsylvanian Academic Standards for Science and Technology and Environment and Ecology. The areas of emphasis will include cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell growth and division, genetics, evolution, zoology, and ecology. Laboratory safety and scientific method will be emphasized throughout the course. Students in this course will take the Keystone Biology Exam in May during the fourth nine weeks.
