What is Buildology?

The Suffix 'Ology' is defined as "the study of" or "looking into" - Buildology is the study and practice of desiging and building better?

What Materials we will be using?

Really you can build with ANYTHING! We will be using

Great for the "bones" of architecture

Lego, Kreo or other bricks and special pieces.

Gear sets will help us look at how internal mechanics work. So later we can move onto kinetic machines, sculptures, and motors can be used in building.

K'nex a little more advanced and can add robotics to the structure.

Levels

LEVEL 1

Complete 5 projects to move to level 2

1- Following Directions: Complete Level Set 1

2- Be creative: With you level 1 set what can you create from these pieces?

3- Create a tower or building: Using any building material

4- Freestyle: Your choice

5- Complete a game

LEVEL 2

Complete 5 projects to move to level 3

1- Following the directions: Using Level set 2 sort out the blocks that your directions say you need. Then build.

2- Creative building: With level set 2 what can you create?

3- Freestyle: Using any building supply

4- theme building

5-Complete a Lego Game

LEVEL 3

Complete 5 projects to move to level 4

1- Creative Vehicle: Using the Level 3 set make a creative vehicle

2-Freestyle: Get creative use any Building Supply

3- Balloon race car: Use the level 3 set and create a race car that can hold a balloon. Then blow up the balloon and see if it goes.

4- Creative Building: use straws and connectors to create a piece of architecture

5- Complete a game or Digital project

LEVEL 4

Complete 5 projects to move to level 5

1- Advanced directions and group building: Divide into small groups and build one of the sets.

2- Create your own directions for a set of 40-50 lego. Draw out the blocks and then say how many of each then document the building process either by drawing of photo graphing the steps.

3- Freestyle any building material

4- Create a lego board game: look through the folder games and see what you can come up with

5- Digital or freestyle
