The department does not set specific working hours for its PhD students. However, you should agree with your supervisor when you are expected to be at your desk working or conducting experiments.
Typically, PhD students may take, with agreement of their supervisors, up to 30 days of annual leave, excluding closure days and bank holidays. We do encourage you to take your full allocation of annual leave. We have found that the students who finish early or on time are those who have taken regular breaks away from their work, so it is beneficial for both you and your work to get away for a while!
More information about Working Hours and Holidays are available in the Code of Practice.
