Student Attendance Monitoring

The University is required to monitor student attendance and engagement, and formal checkpoints for PhD students take place three times per year in January, May and September.  Information can be found in the Code of Practice: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/rpi/pgr/supervision/about

The Department has adopted PATS (Personal & Academic Tutoring System) as the best method for this process. You should upload meeting notes at least once a month to the system so that your attendance can be monitored.  Failure to attend meetings may result in disciplinary action.

You may find that your supervisor has a preferred template for recording notes of supervisory meetings.  Two such templates are below - any other useful templates currently in use can be uploaded here.
