8th Grade Science Genetics Project

Introduction

Show What You Know About Genetics

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is for each of you to demonstrate a deeper understanding of one topic from our genetics unit.

To do this you'll use technology to create and record a 2-4 minute presentation in one of the following formats:

  1. Skit

    • If you choose to create a skit or song, you will be recording a video using your iPhone or other device and then you will upload the result to YouTube.

  2. Song

    • If you choose to create a skit or song, you will be recording a video using your iPhone or other device and then you will upload the result to YouTube.

  3. SlideRocket

    • If you would like to create a narrated presentation (or PowerPoint), you will use the free, online program called Slide Rocket. You do not need to upload your SlideRocket presentation to YouTube, because it is already online and can be embedded in your ePortfolio. (See instructions below.)

  4. Explain Everything

    • If you would like to narrate yourself solving a problem or would like to include handwriting in your presentation, you will use an iPad app called Explain Everything. You will then upload the result to YouTube.

For advice and instructions on each of these choices, see the links on the right.

In all situations, you will add your final presentation to your ePortfolio under the Genetics tab. See below for instructions.
