English - 4 credits
Freshmen English, Bilingual English, or Pre AP: English 9
Sophomore English, Bilingual English, or Pre AP: English 10
Junior English, Bilingual English or AP English Language and Composition
Senior English, Bilingual English, AP English Literature, or two 1/2 credit English electives
Math - 3 credits
The beginning sequence for math courses is:
Algebra 1, Pre-AP Algebra
Geometry or CP Geometry
Algebra 2 or CP Algebra 2 with Trigonometry
Freshmen typically start in Algebra 1 or CP Geometry and progress from there.
**Please Note: The majority of 4-year universities require the completion of Algebra 2. If a student does not complete Algebra 2 by the end of their senior year, it is often recommended they attend Gateway or another community or technical college until they have met the math requirement, and then they can apply for transfer to a 4-year university.
Science - 3 credits
Freshmen: Biology or Pre-AP Biology
There are many science options students can progress through. Please discuss your course
selection with your science teacher and/or counselor.
Social Studies - 3.5 credits
Freshmen: U.S. History or Pre AP World History
Sophomores: World History or AP World History
Juniors:
One semester of Sociology
One semester of Regular Governement or one year of AP Government; including passing the mandatory Civics Exam with a minimum score of 65
Students who took Pre AP World in 9th grade will also need to take AP US History or equivalent
Seniors: Economics or AP Microeconomics
Fine Arts - 1.0 credit
Any course from the following areas can be counted for the Fine Arts requirement:
Music, Art, Drama, STA courses
Personal Financial Literacy - 1/2 credit (Class of 2028 and beyond)
Health - 1/2 credit
This course must be taken and passed in the 9th grade year. Otherwise is has to be made up in summer school, credit recovery, or Virtual School
Physical Education - 1.5 credits
PE waiver for students in 11 or 12th grade. See you counselor about this.
Pathway Courses: :
Level 1-2 for the same Pathway or two level 1 courses and one level 2 if a pathway change was approved.
**The remainder of the credits needed for graduation can be met by earning credit through: elective courses, further core courses in the areas above, work credit, or volunteer credit.
Total Credits: 24

Please note that while these are the graduation requirements, there are often further requirements or suggested courses for college preparation. For example, while World Language courses are not a graduation requirement, most colleges suggest you take a minimum of 2 years of the same World Language, or will require 2-3 years for admission.
