Supporting first-generation college students in the attainment of college degrees through enduring and trusting mentor relationships.
Being the first in your family to go to college can feel lonely at times. Your parents might want to help you but they may not know what credits are, maybe they never had to ask a professor for an extension, and they may not know what gen-ed requirements are. College is hard; it doesn’t have to be extra hard. Achieve College! connects Racine students attending UW-Parkside with experienced, caring mentors who help them with the “invisible” curriculum — all the bureaucratic know-how that can make or break your first year at college. Our mentors are teachers and coaches, people who understand young adults and the help they often need.
