Mihimihi for visitors/manuhiri

This mihimihi can be used when welcoming visitors to our school. Make sure you understand the translation as well, so you know what you are saying to our manuhiri/guests. Our ambassadors use this mihimihi when welcoming distinguished guests from all over Aotearoa and further abroad.

E ngā manuhiri, nau mai, haere mai, he mihi nui, he mihi aroha ki a koutou.

Distinguished guests, a heartfelt greeting to you all

Mai i te kura o Pt England,

From Pt England School

I runga i te kaupapa o te wā

With regard to the purpose of your visit

Ānei he whakataukī hei tautoko tāku mihi

I am reminded of an ancestral proverb which illustrates our purpose

Nā te manu e kai e te mātauranga nōna te ao

For a student who partakes from the offerings of education, will inherit the world and all its bounty

Nō reira, nau mai, tēnā koutou katoa

So with that in mind, welcome, one and all
