Last Year's Labels

We are placing a lot of importance on the Labels to give us our record of learning (or Porfolio), so what about all the labels from the previous class?

Again, Don't delete them! After you have got the personal URL they created

eg http://pesking.blogspot.com/search/label/Kayde

You can uncheck them so they no longer show in the sidebar Labels gadget with the new class names

• You go to the Blog > Layout

• Click Edit on the Labels gadget you have created

Then you uncheck all the names you do NOT want to show in the list.

However, a simple solution is this; Don't use the Blogger sidebar gadget for labels to list your kids. You can simply create your own gadget and add the links manually to it. eg Choose the Text gadget and you simply create a list.

Blogger will still create the individual URL for the student as long as you add their label under each post they make.

The main drawback of this is that you don't get to see the number of posts a student has contributed to listed beside their name. And many of you find this a simple way to track how many opportunities the students have had to publish. And some of you with older students report that they like the 'competitive' feel the numbers give!
