At the beginning of the year, whether the class blog is a brand new one or a makeover of an existing class blog, probably the students will be new to THIS blog. However, because blogging is such a way of life in schools now, many of your students will already have a digital footprint from the previous year.
This is one way you could link all of your new students' work from last year to your new blog.
Before school even starts (if you like) and Before you post a picture of your new class or a "HEY! WE'RE Back!" post....
Publish a post for every student in your NEW class. That's right 30 posts, one after the other.
Even if it just has their name in it, or you have a sentence that you copy and paste into each one of the posts. If you need to talk to the teacher from last year (or to the student) to locate their work, still publish the post and go back and add the link later.
eg Welcome to Room 32 John. Click here to find all your blog posts from last year.
Two important steps will make this work:
Paste the link to John's work from last year at the click here
Label this new post with the tag that you intend to use for John for all of this new year
You can always go back and add a photo to the post during the first week if you want to bling the post a bit more.
Just get it done, so it doesn't interupt the flow of your new content you will be posting.
This is not about getting comments on those 30 posts. This is about making sure that all the previous work is added to the collection in the new year.
