Early Entrance to Kindergarten

Early admission to kindergarten may be requested by a parent for any child (living within the Perry Local School District) who does not turn age 5 prior to the first scheduled day of school for the coming school year.  Upon receipt of a request, your child will be evaluated using the IOWA Acceleration Scales and a determination will be made with regards to eligibility.  

NEW for 2026-2027 House Bill 114 shifted the law towards standardizing the kindergarten cutoff date to the first day of school for all districts.  Previously districts could choose between August 1st or September 30th as the date by which a child must turn 5 to enroll.  

All applications for Early Entrance must be submitted to the district by May 31st of the preceding school year.
