Levels

What is a Level?

A level is used to check that a surface is horizontal or vertical, with no tilt in the material.

The carpenter's level, see above, is the most common type of level. It uses air bubbles suspended in fluid to determine how level a surface is.

For example, the middle section is used to check if a surface is horizontal. If the bubble is in the middle of the tube, the surface is level. If the bubble is on either end of the tube, the surface must be tilted in the correct direction.

The section on the right is used in the same way to check for vertical levelness. Lastly, the left section is used to level surfaces at 45°.

Note: the levels in the Design Den are much smaller.
