Parish FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL) Robotics

Parish's award winning Middle School Robotics program was established in the fall of 2010 after students petitioned the administration to add the program as an after school club. In the inaugural season, two FIRST LEGO League teams consisting of 18 students participated in the Body Forward competition hosted by University Texas at Arlington.  The program was so well received by students and parents, that the second year the program grew to eight teams and robotics shifted from being an after school club to a Middle School enrichment class.

The 2022-2023 school year will mark the program's 13th anniversary, the program that began with 18 students now boasts 70+ students, or just under one quarter of our Middle School!  We are proud to have had teams participate at the regional championship event 9 of the last 11 years.

Course information:

Students will practice collaborative skills in small peer groups as they design, build, and program an autonomous robot and attachment arms using the new LEGO® Spike Prime to complete a series of point based missions.  The goal: score as many points as possible in 2.5 minutes! SUPERPOWERED is the theme for the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Challenge 2022. As part of the program students explore where energy comes from, how energy is stored, distributed, and used. Using critical thinking and imagination, students will identify a problem related to the energy journey and develop an reimagine a better energy future.
