Integration Class 5 - Finishing Up

A thank you letter should be sent near the end of your time at your placement. Too often students do not realize the importance of a thank you letter and miss out on the opportunity to leave their placement on a great note. Your placement supervisor may be more prone to give you a reference letter (and a good one at that) if you show your appreciation for their time. Co-op students should never consider a thank you letter as optional. Even if you fail to receive a reference, the employer will retain a more favorable image of you if you take the time to send a letter of thanks.

Complete your Thank You letter, hand in a copy to me and print off another copy to hand to your placement supervisor. Use the following link to complete your Thank You Letter.

We know that we learn by experience and also that we learn from our mistakes. But without the process of actively thinking about those experiences, and questioning ourselves about what they mean, learning doesn’t really happen. What gets us from experience to understanding is reflection. With the aid of a simple questions like 'what did I do well in that situation?', 'what could I do differently', we can make small but cumulative steps to doing things better.
