Week 8

Class Notes

Fall parent-teacher conferences will be held on Election Day, November 5th. I will send out an electronic sign up form on Wednesday morning at 8AM so you can choose a convenient slot. You can come into the classroom that day, or conference via Zoom, whatever works best for you.

We will complete Unit 2 of Fundations. This week we will learn how to spell words with suffixes (base words that end in x) and review trick words and sound alike words.  We will take our unit assessment on Friday.

I will introduce BOOST- our new skill building, story based reading program.

Writers Workshop will focus on revising and editing our true stories. We will rewrite our stories on a Google Doc using our chromebooks and learn how to use many online editing tools.

We will begin our 2nd Unit in Illustrative Math- Area and Multiplication. Students learn about area concepts and relate area to multiplication and to addition.

Science lessons will focus on how scientists learn from changes in ancient habitats and the fossil evidence that is left behind.

Thank you to Ms.  Weitzen (Leo's mom) for being our Mystery Reader last Friday.  Would you like to volunteer as our next Mystery Reader? Click HERE to sign up.
