CSC326: Homework 1 Part 1
Deadline: Friday, January 13 Tuesday, January 17 @ 10:00pm
Part 1: Personal Web Page (40 points)
Throughout the class, we will be working in pairs and teams. You will provide a personal web page so that your partners, teammates, and the teaching staff can get to know you better. If you do not have a personal web page, make one. You may use one of the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) tools such as KompoZer, Microsoft Word, Dreamweaver, or Google sites to make or edit your web site.
You may have your web page on any server, and the web page must be active all semester. If your web page is inactive for any length of time, your Homework 1 grade will be modified. If you want to make your web page on the NC State servers, see the instructions provided by the Information Technology Division (ITD). See information about Google Sites to create a site that can be restricted to NC State. Do not make LinkedIn your webpage -- it's too much of a "walled garden".
Each web page must have the following information, and all information should be easily found:
Basic information about yourself (including strengths, experiences). (10 points)
A current picture of you (a real photograph of you, not of anyone else, not a cartoon picture of you, etc.). (10 points)
Your current semester's schedule, including any commitments (other classes, work, extra curricular activities, etc.) you have. For your schedule, you can embed a Google calendar (preferred), list your commitments in a table, show an image of your schedule, etc. You may indicate that time slots are busy without showing your commitments during that time (Google calendar allows you to do this easily). (10 points) •
Your preferred email address. (10 points)
Note: If you have any privacy concerns where you do not want a public or semi-public (NC State only) posting of your web page, please zip up all appropriate files, and we can post your web page in a wrapped directory that is only accessible by members of your lab section. Speak with your instructor BEFORE the assignment is due if you don't want your information available to your lab mates.
Submit: Submit via Moodle a text file containing your name, unity id, student id number, and the URL to your website. If you have privacy concerns, submit your entire web page as described above.
Part 2: Pairing System Set Up (10 points)
Part 2 of the homework will be completed during Lab 2 on 01/19/2017. Please wait until that time to complete this part and continue to Part 3 below.
Part 3: Moodle Set Up (15 points)
Properly setting up your Moodle profile by providing a picture will help the teaching staff learn your name. Upload a current headshot picture of you (not anyone else, not a cartoon picture of you, etc.) to your Moodle profile. Use US passport photo guidelines. (15 points)
Part 4: GitHub Set Up (15 points)
Sign into NCSU's GitHub. We should be able to find you by your unity id when searching to add you to a repository for the class. Additionally, update your public profile to feature your full name. (15 points)
Part 5: Syllabus Quiz (20 points)
Read the Syllabus and complete the Syllabus Quiz. The syllabus can be found here. The quiz is in Moodle. You will have three attempts to complete the Syllabus Quiz.
