Many MBRSD Orchestra Students benefit from participating in private lessons, or attending a summer music camp. These are great opportunities to improve your musical skills. Check out this page for more information on summer music scholarships, private lessons, and summer music camps.
Private Lessons
Students can greatly improve their technique and proficiency on their stringed instrument through private lessons. Lessons help students both develop their strengths and work on their weaknesses. Lessons usually last either for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, and students progress through scales, études, pieces, and more. Please consult the below list for an alphabetical listing of local stringed instrument private lesson teachers.

Maine Summer Music Camps
There are several great choices for summer music camps, and we are very fortunate that Maine has such quality and diverse offerings. You may find that several of the below music camps offer scholarship programs. Combining a camp scholarship with a Mt. Blue Music Booster scholarship and make music camp surprisingly affordable. Maine music camps offer great opportunities, each in unique beautiful settings with swimming, and more. Please click on the names of each camp to link to the camp's own website.
Camps:
Maine Fiddle Camp, Montville, Maine
Mr. Muise teaches at this camp. There are several sessions of camp from June to August. This camp specializes in fiddle music and specializes in teaching fiddle music by rote (by ear).
Southern Maine String Camp, Winthrop, Maine
This camp reinforces string playing through participation in orchestras and chamber music.
Camp Encore-Coda, Sweden, Maine
This camp has a variety of musical offerings.
New England Music Camp, Sidney, Maine
This camp has a variety of musical offerings.
MSYM, Maine Summer Youth Music Camp, Orono, Maine @ UMO
This camp has a variety of musical offerings.
There is also a new camp that Mr. Muise where Mr. Muise will teach in 2020, it's not a summer camp.
