The grade 7/8 Orchestra, and the High School Orchestra will all be enrolled in our orchestra "Google Classrooms"
You will all be graded in Q1 for enrolling in google classroom, and submitting a video recording of you playing a D scale. (very easy assignment!) This instruction page can also serve as a reminder on how to submit videos to our orchestra google classrooms for other assignments throughout the year, but this page covers the D Scale exactly.
Here are instructions for accessing and joining the Google Classroom:
First, go to your gmail account. In the upper right hand corner, there is a menu button (3x3 squares).
Here's an image of that menu, it's to the right of my name below:
Click on that menu and then scroll all of the way down until you see Google Classroom, and launch that, and hit the "+" in the upper right hand corner to join our Google Classroom. (The codes for the Google Classrooms will be emailed to you, and they're posted in your respective orchestra rehearsal areas - I'm not posting the codes here so I can make sure that there is no confusion in joining the correct class).
You must enroll in our Google Classroom to receive the class information and assignments.
Here's a super quick video showing you that process:
I recommend that you bookmark the class so that you have easy access.
Then, you'll make a video and submit it in google classroom of a 1 octave (2 octaves are optional - see scale rubric) D Scale.
I recommend that you use "Quick Time Player" to make your video for submitting in classroom, but you are welcome to create your video however you choose, you can use another app, or your phone, as long as you can access the file on your laptop to submit in the assignment.
Here's a quick YouTube video on the process for making a video with "Quicktime Player"
You should now have a video file saved on somewhere on your MacBook that you can submit in Google Classroom.
Tips:
• You may want to upload your videos at school unless you have a super fast connection at home.
• You may want to upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted video (I don't think I can see videos categorized as
private). Then you can simply submit the link.
In Google Classroom, in our orchestra class, click on the "D Scale" assignment.
Click "add" and select your video file for uploading to Google Classroom, and then click "Turn In" when you're satisfied that you have a great video to submit
Here's the last video that will show you how to submit your video in Google Classroom.
Ok, that's it, thank you!
