Information about our community:

The Mt. Blue Regional School District is made up of 10 towns surrounding and including Farmington, Maine. Nestled in the foothills and lakes of Western Maine, Farmington is the county seat, and is the home of the local and district courthouses, Franklin Memorial Hospital and the University of Maine at Farmington. It's an art-rich community with strongly supported music, theater and art programs in the public schools. There are opportunities (paid and community) for string players in our area. Nearby orchestral playing opportunities include: Colby College Symphony, Midcoast Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Bangor Symphony and the Portland Symphony. Our communty also supports local theater with the Sandy River Players, a community chorus at the University of Maine at Farmington, a monthly bluegrass jam, fiddle jams, live music and music festivals at the Narrow Gauge Theater, contradances and more. Many students participate in after-school music lessons and dance classes as well. Mt. Blue High School is also interwoven with the Foster Tech Center, offering a wide diversity of opportunities for students. Mt. Blue students also excel in academics and athletics. There are so many members of orchestra that are on the odds-on perennial favorite to be State Champion Nordic Ski Team, that a parent coined the phrase "Norchestra!" The Mt. Blue area is a great place for families, with our local in-town, member owned ski mountain, Titcomb Mountain, beautiful lakes including Clearwater, Wilson, Porter, and Webb Lakes, amazing access to outdoor activities and short drives to major Western Maine Ski Mountains, Sugarloaf, Saddleback and Sunday River. The are hiking trails from short riverside strolls to 4,000 footers all close by.

There is a regional symphonic youth orchestra, MMYO "Mid Maine Youth Orchestra" that rehearses here at Mt. Blue and in Oakland.

We hope you consider joining our team!
