The Survival Game demonstrates the food chain in a dynamic ecosystem; it is the delicate dependence of each and every species upon each other for survival.
The game gives everyone a role in the food chain. When the game is ongoing, all the pupils in 6-2 & 6-3 are creating a real, working food chain.
Balance is very important in nature.
The organisms of a particular habitat, such as a pond or forest, together with the physical environment in which they live, form an ecosystem.
Ecosystems can be big - the Atlantic Ocean or small - a neighbourhood pond. These ecosystems must balance so that life can continue.
But what sustains life? Energy sustains life, and it is the flow of this energy through the ecosystem that we are studying here.
Each organism in the ecosystem has a certain role related to how it acquires and releases energy. Some organisms produce energy - the producers, and some organisms consume energy - the consumers.
Only the plants are producers.
Similarly, each and everyone of you played an important role in the game.

Yo! Don't mess with us! :p
Hope you had enjoyed the game and had also picked up some learning points from it.
I would like everyone to complete your learning points and reflections via Padlet by this Sunday 5 p.m.

Questions for your Survival Game Reflections:
1. Did you enjoy the game? Which areas? Why?
2. What are some learning points from this game?
3. Why did Mrs Ng use the following combinations: Herbivores (10 - 12), Omnivores (5 - 6) & Carnivores (3)?
Would it make a difference to the game play if I increase the number of carnivores and decrease the number of herbivores in the game?
4.. Who do you think is the most powerful character in this game? Why?
5. Any suggestions for improvement for the game?
If you are unable to add in your reflections online due to IT issues, please complete them on foolscap paper and submit it to me by Monday (3 April).
Cheers,
Mrs Ng
