Service

Service to the profession and the community are integral to my position. The true impact of my efforts can be measured by the extent to which they influence the community in and through my teaching and research. A full account of my activities in this domain can be seen in the pages that follow. Relevant to RPT criteria, please note the following:

    1. Service conducted for 3 local elementary schools (ropes courses, outdoor activity days), as well as research to support outdoor classrooms and physical activity for mental health.

    2. Promotion of physical activity through Outdoor Prescription initiatives, as well as conducting master plan research for Hamilton County Parks and Collegedale Parks & Recreation.

    3. Service to support local tourism initiatives, including economic impact research for the Visitor's Bureau, Sports Committee, Climbers' Coalition, and SORBA Chattanooga.

    4. Collaborative research and promotion of local events such as the Ironman, Chattanooga Marathon, and RiverRocks. Regional and national attention were elicited for these events through our Mobile Labs and Brainwave Project research.

    5. Service on departmental, college, university, and UT system committees.

    6. Service on Professional research committees, reviews for academic journals, program audits/reviews, experiential learning committees, the honors college, and graduate programs.

    7. Service on community-based committees, such as: City Mayoral Sports & Outdoors Committee, HCDE advisory committee, AdventureServe Ministries Board of Directors, Hamilton County Master Plan committee, Engel Foundation, and others.
