The banks of the Huang He (aka "Yellow") river gave birth to this "Middle Kingdom" civilization. The Shang dynasty, followed by the Zhou dynasty, were two of the longest ruling periods of ancient times. However, a 200-year Period of Warring States made a huge impression on this civilization - from the mighty Qin (pronounced "chin") and his standardization, to the still influential Confucius and his book of "Analects".
